2 Months (9 weeks) Old

I can't believe the twins are 2 months old already. I would upload a picture or two, but they are all on my phone and Ryan has it right now. I promise to put some recent pictures on my blog soon. The twins had doctors appointments this week and I was shocked at how big they are getting. Keep in mind that they both weighted 5lbs 10oz at birth, just 9 weeks ago.

Amelia:
weight: 8lbs 12oz (6%)
length: 20 1/2" (2%)
head: 14" (0%)
Henry:
weight: 9lbs 3oz (5%)
length: 20 1/2" (0%)
head: 14 3/4" (6%)

As you can see they are either barely on the growth charts or not on them at all yet. They seem so big to me compared to what they were at birth, but really they are just the size of most newborns. In fact, when Isabel was born she weighted 8lbs 12oz and was 20 1/2" long, exactly what Amelia is now. I can't believe I pushed out a baby that size looking at Amelia. I am so happy they are growing and developing. They both look so healthy and are getting so strong. We go in to see Henry's cardiologist in a few weeks and I am anxious to hear what they have to say. He seems like he is doing great. I am so grateful for my little babies. They are a ton of work and I am always tired, but it is wonderful and I love them so much!

6 weeks old

I can't hardly believe it, but my sweet twins are 6 weeks old this week. It has gone by so fast and yet I wish it would go by even faster. I am not going to lie, it has been super hard and I am so tired I feel like dying sometimes, however I love these babies so much and sometimes I can't get enough of them. We took them in last week for an appointment and they are growing quite well. Henry is now 7lbs and Amelia is just over 7lbs. Henry is doing really well since he has been home. We still has his feeding tube, but we rarely use it as he is able to drink his bottles. We are hoping to pull it soon and not have to worry about it anymore.
Anyway, things are good and we are all surviving. I have to thank you all for the generous gifts sent to us. Also, thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. I am so grateful for such wonderful family and friends. If you are ever in the area, please stop by and see us (unless you are sick). We love you all!

They are Here!

Most of you know that I had my twins, but for those of you who do not know..... they have come, and boy have they come! It has been quite the adventure this past week and half. Here is the story (don't worry there is nothing gross and in too many details).
I should probably start by saying that I have been having contractions for the past month and I think that I had lost sensation in my belly and I really could not longer tell how strong the contractions were. I know that sounds weird, but I was having them so often that I was just used to them and it became normal to have strong contractions. On February 1st I was having contractions, like usual, but I decided to start timing them. They were pretty consistent at about 5 minutes apart, so Ryan decided we should go the hospital just to make sure I wasn't dilating (I was only at a 1 previous to this and hadn't changed in a couple weeks). We got to the hospital at about 5ish. Luckily my doctor was there delivering another baby, so he came and checked me. I was at a 2 and totally thinned out. They hooked me up the monitors and I was having contractions about 3 minutes apart and according to the monitor they were strong contractions (although I felt fine, just uncomfortable). They monitored me for about an hour and then my doctor came in and said he thought I should get my c section that night. I should add that I had never had a c section before, but the twins were both breach and they can't rotate twins externally because it is dangerous to the babies. They wheeled me into the operating room at about 6:30pm. It was a very strange thing. I mush prefer having babies the old fashioned way. Amelia was pulled out first at 6:52pm and then Henry at 6:58pm. It all happened so fast. They both weighted 5lbs 10oz. Amelia was 19"long and Henry was 18.5" long. It's kind of weird that they were pretty much identical in weight and length.
Initially Amelia was having a hard time breathing so they were focused on her, but she was quickly fine. They then focused on Henry who was having a hard time breathing. He was all over the place and after a couple of hours of monitoring him they decided to have him go to the NICU over night to be monitored better. Amelia came to my room and we planned on Henry coming the next day. Our pediatrician, Jason (who is also a relative), decided to order an echo cardiogram due to a loud murmur in Henry's heart for the next day. The next day I went to the NICU and held Henry for the first time. He was perfect and looked so good. At noon he got the echo cardiogram. Jason came to give me the result a little after that. It came back that something was wrong with his heart and they were taking him to Primary Children's Hospital in 1 hour. I should also add that Ryan had left the hospital a little bit before all this to take one of his CPA tests. I quickly called Ryan and told him to come back to the hospital and that something was wrong with Henry. I then went to the NICU to hold Henry until the Life Flight people got there. Jason called my brother Sam who works across the street from the hospital to come help him with a blessing for Henry. Jason and Sam gave Henry a blessing and then gave me one. It was very emotional, but also very calm at the same time. Ryan showed up about 10 minutes before they took Henry. It was so hard to watch my little baby being wheeled away. Ryan then went with Henry to Primary's. A few hours we got his diagnosis. He has a condition called Double Inlet Left Ventricle. If you want to know more about that you can look it up. On February 7th (so he was 6 days old) Henry had open heart surgery. He is doing so good. He will need at least 2 more heart surgeries over the next few years. He is currently still at the hospital, but should be coming home in a couple of days. I am a little nervous about him coming home but also really excited to have him with all of us. I hate that he is down there alone. We go down everyday, but it is just not the same.
So, there you go. There is the story. It has been a very stressful week and half. I know it is going to be utter chaos around our house for the next few years, but I don't even care. At least Henry is alive and he will be fine. It might sound crazy, but I feel like we were meant to have this trial and we will be better and stronger because of it.

Bedrooms

Ryan and I have been working hard to get the girls in the basement room and get the babies room ready. I think we can finally take a break and look back at our hard work and see that everything looks good (or maybe good enough). Here are some of the pictures of the girls room and the babies room. I am pleased with how they turned out.Isabel's side of the room.

Lucy's side of the room.
The entire room. I love the chandelier. The room is big and bright. I love all the space and the open-ness (?).
FYI we decided on names. Introducing Henry and Amelia's bedroom. It's not totally decorated, but it is at least ready for when they come; crib up and clothes organized.
We decided to not buy a dresser right now so I am using the changing table and bins as a dresser. I cut vinyl and organized all their clothes. I think it looks pretty good and is functional.
The babies will be sleeping in the same crib for the first 4 or 5 months. Seeing only one crib doesn't freak me out as much as seeing the 2 car seats. It's hard to believe 2 are coming.
I can't wait to meet Hank and Millie!

I'm still here

I recently had my walls painted (by my sister Michelle), and added this bog clock and painting of the Ogden Temple (done by my talented Dad). I also added drapes to my windows (it's a little dark in the picture, but you get the idea). The picture of the drapes is below (I could get it to move, whatever!)My girls playing in the snow. To say they love the snow would be an understatement. They love it! Anytime it snows they go crazy!
34 weeks and counting! I am so big and so uncomfortable. I am really tired of being pregnant, but I am really not wanting these babies to come out yet. I am hoping to make it at least 2 more weeks, but maybe even 4. I will be beyond huge at that point. On a positive note, in the past month I have only gained 2lbs. I have no space for big meals, but these babies are growing. I have only gained 37 lbs this entire pregnancy, which is pretty amazing. I hope to not gain more than 40 lbs total, but we shall see. I feel good for the most part, just tired and sore. Sleep has become a thing of the past and I am lucky if I get more than 4 hours a night (unless I take an Ambien). We are getting really excited for them to come. Last night we set up the crib and I have started organizing the baby stuff. I spent yesterday cleaning car seats and getting them ready for little babies. When Ryan got home from work he said that seeing the 2 car seats freaked him out just a little. I think reality is starting to hit him. I can't wait to see these little ones (and maybe get a few hours of sleep without this large mass on my body).

December Pictures

Isabel's Christmas preschool program. It was very cute and Isabel did great on her speaking part. Here they are singing "Up on The Housetop".
Isabel had a dance recital. They danced to "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas". I was really worried that she was going to have issues and maybe freeze on stage, but she did great! I was so proud of her. Her costume was super cute too (I'm not sure what is up with her pose though)!
My super cute girls in front of the Christmas tree. I can't get enough of them sometimes!
Every year we go to Ogden's Christmas Village. This year we went with the Hills. It was so much fun!
